Employees‘ “right to disconnect” now recognized by French law


It is no secret that the “Loi Travail” of 08 August 2016 (commonly referred to as „Loi El Khomri“) was generally forced through by the French government. However, whereas many provisions caused a great deal of teeth-gnashing among politicians and social partners alike, there was universal consensus on the act's article 55 establishing at long last a “right to disconnect” for employees, as Christian Connor und Marine Gardic report in their article “Le droit à la déconnexion des salariés : Une entrée remarquée dans le droit du travail” (Contact, Chambre franco-allemande de commerce et d’industrie, janvier-février 2017).
