Dispute resolution in the sporting world


For the sporting world, the judicial courts and procedures have never been suited to sports disputes. Still, the law applies to sportspeople, too, and justice as dispensed by the federations is only the first step, subject to review by a court of law. In their article “Les athlètes et le conflit : Le juge, l’arbitre, le conciliateur déjà dans la course, le médiateur sur la ligne de départ” (La Revue de l'ACE, décembre 2016, n° 138), Jean-Yves Foucard and colleague Catherine Peulvé list the various dispute resolution options available to those evolving in the sporting world.
